Last Thursday I was invited to a screening of Mission: Impossible Rouge Nation. Getting in the spirit of things, I silently crept down my hallway like a true Mission: Impossible spy. I leapt over a massive pile of toys, dodged a dirty diaper, tumble rolled out the door and proceeded to make a swift exit. Unnoticed by my son, I sped away in my BMW. Coffee in hand and phone fully charged, I was ready to navigate through the evil LA traffic. The life of a mom and a spy are not really that different.
Ok, ready to hear about the screening? Let me just start by saying- it was a blast! Maybe it was the fact that I actually went to the movies, or that it was in an IMAX theater, either way, I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. I’ll be honest, I typically don’t watch a ton of action films, but I think I may be hooked now. Seeing this on a big screen really made a difference. I felt like I was part of the movie-right there in the middle of the action.
Want to know about the movie? It was an intense non-stop, jam packed film without a dull moment. Did I mention it was action packed!?! Tom Cruise (who DOESN’T AGE!) and his team join forces and embark on a seemingly impossible mission- to take down the rouge nation, aka the Syndicate. I loved the badass babe, Rebecca Ferguson, who kicks some serious bootay all over the film. Not only is she gorgeous, and totally fit- she can do some major fighting in stilettos. This mama needs to get some tips from her asap. Mission Mompossible anyone!?! I am going to channel her inner strength next time I’m working out. I need to make sure I can fend off any evil attackers that may come after me and my little peanut!
Another bonus from the film; the travel scenes! You guys know how much I love to jet set, so seeing clips from around the world made me want to grab my family and hop on the next plane to somewhere exotic. I’m looking at you Casablanca. If you’re into travel, motorcycle racing, car chasing, and butt kicking, this movie is for YOU! Good news, it is in theatres. You can get your tickets at Fandango.

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now- but June has been one of the busiest months of my life… and now it’s July. WTF! I went to Florida twice last month. Cray cray. The FIRST Florida trip was to Miami. I was invited for the opening of a new hotel; The AC Hotel Miami Beach. Me and my fellow bloggers, journalists and social media influencers got to see a side of Miami I didn’t even know existed. This trip focused on art and design. The last time I was in the Magic City was for a friend’s wedding which happened to be during Art Basel. The hubs and I were lucky enough to visit some of the exhibits, but I had no idea how much the art scene is booming there. Actually, everything is booming in Miami. It seems like people have money to burn. Because I was on a press trip we were escorted around town to a variety of unique places that tourists typically would never see. Some of the cool spots included the Perez Art Museum, the Design District, multiple galleries, great restaurants and my favorite place of all; the Wynwood Walls. This is the coolest display of street art I have ever seen. It’s BADASS. Seriously, I beg you to go there.
Here is a bit more explanation of the pics. The rooftop pool is from the AC Hotel Miami Beach along with the photographs of what’s in people’s bags.
The vertical gardens and palm trees are from the Perez Art Museum. I strongly suggest getting a guided tour of the museum. It makes it way more interesting.
The dip porn and watermelon salad are from Mandolin Aegean Bistro in the Design District.
The glamorous looking interior and tropical pool is from The Edition Miami. Love that hotel. Definitely staying there with the fam next time I go. It was very Sharzad friendly. Beautiful pools, beach access and totally lux.
The Chanel whistle and sick Balmain dress are from The Webster. The Webster has a ridiculously amazing collection of unique pieces from some seriously high brands. Um, hi Chanel whistle!
*THANK YOU to everyone I met on this trip for making it so fabulous and THANK YOU AC Hotel Miami Beach!
Sharzad and I were married in SF so we have a special place in our hearts for the city. We go up several times a year and usually find ourselves staying around Union Square. This time we decided shake things up and venture to another part of town. Sharzad was also shooting a big commercial for Tripit which partially dictated where we stayed. When looking for places online Hotel Vitale seemed to fit the bill and the location couldn’t be beat. It’s directly across from the Ferry Building and has breath taking views of the beautiful city. The friendly staff pampered us with hellos and well wishes from the second we walked inside. The view from our 8th floor room was spectacular. Sharzad and I were invited to enjoy the luxurious spa amenities which included an hour long couples milk bath on their roof top. We soaked in deluxe tubs while we sipped on spiced teas, ate fruit and relaxed in the ultra zen setting. That alone was a surreal experience, but the VIP treatment didn’t end there. Our baths were followed by an hour long couples massage. I left there truly rejuvenated and relaxed. I’m starting to understand why my wife spends so much time at spas now. Once we gathered our thoughts, we got dressed and headed to The Ferry Building for some artisan foods and coffee. I’d like to recommend Cowgirl Creamery for one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. With our food and coffee in hand we found a couple chairs by the water, and just enjoyed the beautiful day in San Francisco. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect time with my wife. Until next time!
The BEST manicure in LA!?! Yup. I think we may have found it. Allow me to introduce you to côte in beautiful Brentwood. This place is an elegant, beach meets chic nail salon with a focus on chemical free manicures. All the polishes at côte are created free of the five major toxins (yipee). What you won’t find at cote is formaldehyde, (ew) dibutyl phthalate (barf), toluene (sick), camphor (nasty) and formaldehyde resin (gross). What you will find is a lux service with an awesome price point. Hi $20 mani! Susan and I headed to the salon a few weeks ago to chat with one of the founders Mary Lennon all about nail care and the importance of clean salon that doesn’t use a ton of chemicals. Mary truly is an innovator when it comes to manis and pedis and she shared some great tips with us! A full episode of TheSASS is below!
Did you know from April 6th-May 19th it’s Culture LA!?! I bet you want to know what Culture LA is right? It’s a time to celebrate all of the wonderful things LA has to offer. Woohoo! In addition to fabulous beaches, beautiful hikes, killer restaurants and perfect weather, LA has a plethora of cultural activities. We’ve got museums, The Geffen Playhouse, the Zoo, La Brea Tarpits, Getty Center… I can go on. You probably know by now I’m a huge fan of my city and I’m happy to share that during this special time there are tons of great offers available to encourage you to get out there and see more of this magical place. Click HERE to see a list of great deals. As part of Culture LA my family and I were lucky enough to get invited to Mr. C Hotel in Beverly Hills for a lux family staycation AND we got to experience a private guided tour of the LA Zoo. Oh Snap.
Check us out at Mr C Hotel and then at the Zoo!
When I first moved to LA (over 13 years ago) the thought of going downtown repulsed me. Fast forward to now and I’m dying for excuses to make the trek. Sexy restaurants are popping up everywhere and I have a long list of places I’m desperate to try. I’m happy to report that I can cross Zinc Cafe & Market off my list. I went twice actually, once for dinner and once for brunch. Holy shizballs. It’s a vegetarian paradise.
I’m really into lists right now, so I’m going to make a list of all the things I love about Zinc.
1) The outdoor patio. It’s so airy and chic with a fire pit and twinkling lights. I could spend hours there.
2) This place is 100% Vegetarian and the food is delish.
3) The menu is unique and offers things like Mushroom Nut Loaf, Stuffed Peppers and an Asparagus Sandwhich. (YUM to everything)
4) There is a variety of fresh cocktails and a great beer and wine selection.
5) The service is friendly and welcoming. No snobs up in here!
Babes and power tools!?!? YES. Yours truly used a nail gun, sand blaster AND did some edge banding for the very first time with the help of my friend Kelly Edwards. She is the DIY House Call hostess extraordinaire and the brains behind the awesome makeover my home received a few weeks ago. Some of you may remember from my house tour there was an unusable space I had in my family room/kitchen area. I was desperate to turn it into a place that was both functional, chic and baby friendly. BAM. Ask and you shall receive. Thanks to The Design Network, Home Depot and Kelly all my home decor dreams came true. I’m writing this post from my new space and I freaking love it. Last Friday was the first time I spent the night away from my baby. Big moment for me! He was in excellent hands with my mom and my goal was to kick back, try to relax with the hubs and drink tons of great wine. We were also celebrating our five year wedding anniversary (a week early) and wanted to do something extra special. We stayed at The Carneros Inn- my new favorite place. The pictures should speak for themselves, but just in case they don’t, here goes… The property is stunning. Each room is it’s own cottage with a private patio, indoor/outdoor shower (amazing), wood burning fire place, lux bed and every amenity you can think of. The service was phenomenal. Upon check in we were greeted with a hefty pour of fabulous pinot- why doesn’t every hotel do this!?! The pool overlooked a vineyard, (genius) and the spa… oh the spa. Mind blowing massage. 60 minutes of pure relaxing heaven. I will definitely be going back for more.
We checked out Etude and Artesa tasting rooms (pictured above). Great experiences at both and they’re right next to Carneros Inn. Bam. Perfect mini vacay.
Yes, you read the title correctly! My partner in crime, Susan and I got to experience the Hannibal Lecter Facial, aka Dermaculture i-derm Facial. Skincare expert Marianne Kehoe is the pro behind this unique beauty treatment. As scary as it sounds and as creepy as it looks, it was super relaxing. Marianne was a blast to work with and she has a great skincare philosophy that really promotes nourishing your skin as opposed to stripping it with lasers, peels, etc. My skin definitely felt tight, clean and hydrated afterward. Watch Susan and I in this informative and fun video. Would YOU try it!?!
