Have you heard of Blue Apron? You may remember me talking about this amazing meal planning and grocery delivery service a few months ago. Michael and I are huge fans and have been religiously using it. Once a week we get a shipment of perfectly proportioned ingredients to make fresh, unique, tasty meals three nights a week. We’re on the Pescatarian plan and each meal takes 25-45 minutes to prepare and cook and they are anywhere from 500-700 calories. You can stay on track with healthy eating and learn a TON of cool cooking tricks. I feel so much more confident in the kitchen and using Blue Apron really got me out of my cooking comfort zone. I’ve experimented with veggies and grains I never knew existed. I’m talking to you Einkorn. Want to know a little secret? One of the things my hubby and I usually argue about is what to eat for dinner. I know that sounds lame- but it’s true. Planning meals, grocery shopping and cooking can be a bit stressful from time to time. With a service like Blue Apron all the dumb bickering about dinner is eliminated and we get to enjoy the process together. When I first moved to LA (over 13 years ago) the thought of going downtown repulsed me. Fast forward to now and I’m dying for excuses to make the trek. Sexy restaurants are popping up everywhere and I have a long list of places I’m desperate to try. I’m happy to report that I can cross Zinc Cafe & Market off my list. I went twice actually, once for dinner and once for brunch. Holy shizballs. It’s a vegetarian paradise.
I’m really into lists right now, so I’m going to make a list of all the things I love about Zinc.
1) The outdoor patio. It’s so airy and chic with a fire pit and twinkling lights. I could spend hours there.
2) This place is 100% Vegetarian and the food is delish.
3) The menu is unique and offers things like Mushroom Nut Loaf, Stuffed Peppers and an Asparagus Sandwhich. (YUM to everything)
4) There is a variety of fresh cocktails and a great beer and wine selection.
5) The service is friendly and welcoming. No snobs up in here!
I’m constantly looking for ways to make healthy versions of my favorite foods. Allow me to introduce you to zucchini pasta. I promise it’s delish, especially when served with the right toppings. Today I decided to go with vegan walnut pesto, organic cherry tomatoes and a fresh farm egg. Keep scrolling for the vegan/raw version.
You’ll need 2 medium sized zucchini’s sliced into “pasta” using something like this.
1 Fresh Farm egg per person
1 cup organic cherry tomatoes
For the Vegan Walnut Pesto you’ll need
1/2 cup walnuts
2 cups basil
2-3 cloves raw garlic
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
Juice of one small lemon
Salt & pepper to taste
Blend all the pesto ingredients in a food processor
Lightly sauté the zucchini with olive oil spray (or leave it raw)
Slice several cherry tomatoes and top everything with a fried egg and salt & pepper
Right around 7-8 months pregnant I noticed some serious joint pain happening, especially in my wrists. I figured it was due to the fact that I gained a ton of weight. (Hi 55 pounds) Fast forward to now, I’ve lost a decent amount of weight (still 15 to go) but my wrist pain has gotten worse. After multiple trips to the doctor I decided it was time to freeze myself. Wait, what!?! I know, so random right? Apparently freezing yourself is great for inflammation, arthritis and a ton of other ailments. I headed to the Cryo Health Care Clinic in West Hollywood and hopped in a machine that was set at 220 below. Repeat -220 degrees. You’re going to have to watch the video to see what happens!
This past Saturday I headed to San Diego to film an easy, quick mom and baby workout with two of my besties. I truly can’t believe it’s been three years since I started my online journey! When I began my blog my makeup career was in a transitional place and I knew I no longer wanted to do it professionally. I longed for something more exciting….but I wasn’t sure what or how or when. In high school I wanted to host a show (specifically one like Wild on E!) and somehow along the way that dream seemed like it would never come to fruition. Doing makeup allowed me to be part of the exciting world of entertainment without really putting myself out there… but it wasn’t my true passion. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the beauty industry, but I wanted to be on camera! It took me a really long time to admit that to myself.
I am so thankful EVERYDAY that I started chasing my dreams when I did. I can’t imagine not doing what I do. It’s opened up doors and opportunities I truly only dreamed about. I’m not trying to toot my own horn, I’m trying to encourage people to go after what they want. There is a saying in farsi “Whenever you get the fish out of the water, it’s fresh” basically to me that means that no matter where you are in your life, it’s not to late to start something new and go after what you want.
I love my job and have worked harder than ever. I have no clue where I will be next year or in five years and that’s what is so exciting about what I do. There are endless possibilities and the sky truly is the limit.

The end of the year is a great time reflect, think about what you’ve accomplished, and where you want to go the following year. As I look back at my lyfe I can’t help but think that this was one of the best years I’ve ever had. For that, I want to say a big thank you to everyone for following my blog, watching my YouTube channel and supporting me throughout this exciting journey. Growing this blog/channel has been one of the greatest challenges I’ve ever faced, but I’m so grateful I took a leap of faith and launched this baby back in August 2011. It seems like an eternity since the days of being a makeup artist and powdering bitchy celebs! 2014 looks bright and I can’t wait for all the new adventures- most importantly, becoming a MOM. (Holy Shiz!) I genuinely hope that you all have a wonderful, healthy, positive New Year and that you chase your dreams, both big and small. Anything is possible friends! Below is a look at some of my favorite moments from 2013, THANKS again for all your lovin’.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope all my fellow Southern Californians have something outdoors planned this weekend because it’s going to be HOT HOT HOT! No cozy sweaters in my future. It’s hard to imagine the holidays are so close especially with this scorching heat, but on yesterday’s episode of TMV the ladies and I discussed how we attempt to stay somewhat healthy during the holidays. Almond Milk, approximately 10-13 ounces
1 Tbsn Honey
A pinch of cinnamon
1-2 drops of Vanilla Extract
About 15-20 rasins
1/3 Can Organic Pumpkin Pie Mix
Blend everything together and ENJOY!
*I do add honey to this smoothie, which I know die hard vegans avoid, so you can always skip that ingredient or use Agave.
