I’ve been a nail biter since well, since I had nails. When I got older (like 16) I began religiously getting them done to prevent myself from biting them into bloody stumps… that is until I had my second little monster. Holy SHIZZ it’s hard to schedule an hour of “me time” when there are TWO of them. Luckily a new salon opened up in my hood making it easier for me to escape for an hour. Insert Ten Over Ten. One of the newest spots to hit the super hip Platform shops in Culver City. They’re all about non-toxic nail care and I’m totally into that. Here are a few things I liked about the salon. Unlike other salons in Culver City, I didn’t think I was going to get a creepy nail disease after visiting. YAY. It was spotless, pretty, modern. They use 8-free, vegan and cruelty free polish, which means no gels, or acrylics. Me likey!

The Detox Market
Last week I actually left my house and went to an event! Yippee! It only took about 20 minutes to pack up my baby and load up the car, clearly, I’m such a pro now. It was all worth it because I was invited to the opening of The Detox Market located on the oh so fabulous Montana Ave in Santa Monica. What is The Detox Market all about you ask? Lemme tell ya. They sell green beauty, organic skincare and natural makeup products. It’s the perfect place for the savvy consumer who cares about what kind of ingredients are in the products they’re buying. You’ll find brands like One Love Organics (personal fav), Ilia Makeup and Odacite. I’m sure many of you have heard the bad news that many of your beloved beauty products are filled with some pretty harsh chemicals. No bueno. We’re all guilty. I’m not judging. The good news is that there are TONS of sexy, eco chic lines out there that actually perform. Holla! If you want to shake up your routine and play with some new, feel good brands, check out The Detox Maket! There is also a location in West Hollywood and Toronto.

Spoke & Weal
Mama got her hrrr did! Awww yeah! A few weeks ago I got treated to a cut and color at Spoke & Weal in West Hollywood. I was SO excited to get out of the house and freshen up my hair. You know when you’re a new mom and you’re constantly covered in barf and you live in jammies? Me too! Well, once in a while it’s nice to get dressed, leave the house without kids, and do something for yourself so you feel like a normal, adult human.
Spoke & Weal had such good vibes when I walked in. Everyone looked hip and cool- very West Hollywood chic. My color was done by Julia and I freak’n love the way it turned out. She was also a super cool chic and totally fun to chat with. I told her I wanted something easy to maintain and bright. She did exactly that. LOVE THE COLOR.
I got it cut by Jennifer and she also did exactly what I wanted. Don’t you love when hairstylists actually LISTEN to you!?!? Me too. She worked her magic and somehow my hair looked longer when I left. I’ve had my hair chopped off so many times and been super bummed in the past- not this time. One of the things I really loved about my hair cutting experience is that she did a dry cut, meaning she blow dried my hair, straightened it and THEN cut it. Genius. Why don’t more places do that?
A few other fun things about Spoke & Weal. They serve delicious hot tea. Yum. They’re opening several new locations around the country, so be on the look out. They offer a ton of educational classes. Check’em out!

Stay’n Soft w/DOVE
I’m excited to partner with Dove for my post! I’ve been a big fan of their products since I was a little girl. My mom told me Dove was the only thing she was able to use on sensitive skin growing up. Some of you may have heard me complain about having dry or itchy skin in my videos over the last few years. It’s always been a nightmare trying to find a body wash that works for me. I have to be extra cautious with what I use or I’ll end up itching myself into a bloody mess. I know- not a pretty picture! That being said it is of extreme importance that I have gentle cleanser to protect my skin from getting dry. So many body washes are filled with harsh chemicals and fragrances- often times it’s the same ingredients found in dish soap. No thanks! I’ll keep my dish soap for the dirty dishes.
Having worked in the beauty biz for a decade I’ve gotten my hands (and body!) on a variety of cleansers. From the mega fancy ones sold at department stores to drugstore brands and everything in between. Dove Body Wash is totally different; it provides super gentle cleansers plus the unique care of NutriumMoisture technology. Your skin will be softer after one shower. Woohoo! Dove replaces the nutrients that are lost during cleansing while other body washes only add moisture after skin has been stripped of essential lipids and proteins during cleansing. Sounds good to me. I’m sure we can all agree that not all body washes are created equal. Having a gentle cleanser has always been a necessity for me and when I’m pregnant it’s even more important. I want my growing belly to be gently cleansed and moisturized at all times. You can get this magical body wash at any local drugstore around the country at really great price point.
Big thanks to Dove for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

Pregnancy Facial
My skin has been insanely dry the past couple of weeks due to my constant barfing. Hi morning sickness- I hate you. Please go away. Luckily I live in LA and there are fabulous treatments like the Pregnancy Facial from Kate Somerville to help restore my sad skin. If you live here or plan on visiting you have to check out Kate Somerville. It’s the most beautiful skin clinic I’ve ever been to. I’ve shot two episodes of The SASS there, you can watch one them by clicking here. The second one comes out in a few weeks and I actually got to chat with Kate Somerville herself. It’s safe to say I’m a fan. Fun fact, the Kate Somerville clinic used to be Sean Connery’s townhouse. It’s located right above Alfred Coffee on Melrose where the trendiest people in all of LA lounge, sip expensive coffee and most importantly look very cool doing it. Ok, back to the facial. My girl Laura Kay had magic hands and gave me an incredible treatment that was equal parts relaxing, hydrating and calming. The pregnancy facial is designed keeping mamas to be in mind. There are no harsh chemicals (everything is baby safe!) and it addresses hormonal fluctuations, puffiness and dehydration- my personal fav. If you are a mama to be and you want to pamper yourself, check it out.
